DHA
Docosahexaenoic acid, commonly known as DHA, is an omega-3 fatty acid that is essential for puppy brain development. DHA is found in our Vetdiet® puppy food in ingredients like fish oil and fish meal.
What is DHA?
Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is an omega-3 fatty acid, unlike linoleic acid which is an omega-6 fatty acid. DHA is a component located in the gray matter of the brain and the retina of the eye.
DHA is naturally found in many of our product ingredients, such as salmon meal, fish oil, eggs, and chicken meal.
Other important omega-3 fatty acids include eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), which also comes from marine sources, and alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), which comes from flaxseed. All of these omega-3 fatty acids are important for supporting a multitude of bodily functions.
